Aeipathy Goes Legit
Okay ladies and gents - this is a very exciting announcement for me!! >.<"
Our lovely, adorable, wonderful, generous community have pitched in over the last few months and have pushed Aeipathy's Patreon page up to the $50 a month coverage that we need for Aeipathy to be moved to a server called forums.net. Just to make things clear - forums.net is the company that Proboards runs. Proboards is their free product tester (effectively) and forums.net is the full shebang. It costs $49.99 per month (you're contributions are all important and all go towards Aeipathy, I promise I'm not taking a cut or anything) and this new server gives you full and free access. Because you pay for it, you don't have to abide by other people's terms and conditions (at all) and the website will be totally ad-free, with no content restrictions. BUT because it's hosted by the same server supplier (effectively) all the same coding, graphics, layouts and plugins that we have in place will be usable. It should also mean that we can simply transfer the database across and there won't be any awkward account recreation (I hope). I will also be paying, as my contribution, for a brand new URL so that we don't have the forums.net hoster tag. This will likely be aeipathyrp.com but it depends on whether it's still available come next month.
So, what's next for Aeipathy?? Well, for starters, I've sent a direct email to the forums.net guys and am just 100% guaranteeing the above. The last thing I want to do is have a mod's incorrect info from the last time I checked making me spend your money without getting back the promised writing freedom. Ergo, I'm not doing anything until I can 100% confirm for you all that we will indeed be getting an ad-free forum without restrictions where the site still works.
Secondly, I need to wait for the first full payment from Patreon to come through which will then fund the first month of the forums.net account. Ergo, I can't do anything until the start of next month (approx. the 6th is when it comes through to me). But this works out great because it gives everyone who has generously contributed the time to consider and check that they're happy with the commitment to the site.
So here's the general (and very approximate) time-frame for you all -
Between Now and the 6th March(ish) -- I'll be finalising the forum, finishing the new realm content, getting everything up to scratch and perfected. -- I'll be hiring new staffers to fill out our ranks once more. Watch this space because I need to confirm who and what I need. -- Advertising will start back up again and we'll be taking on new members.
6th March(ish) until 20th March(ish) -- This is moving time. I have no idea how it's going to work. It might be that it gets transferred within a few hours, it might be that I have to do a load of stuff manually and it will take more time than that, I genuinely don't know, so I've allocated two weeks.
After Site Move -- God Apps will Open -- New Noble Houses Apps will Open -- Two New Factions Will Be Added -- Two New Orders Will Be Added -- New Goals Will Be Added to Our Patreon Page
Exciting times everybody! Exciting times!!! So, let me just take a moment to thank everyone who has been a patreon supporter of Aeipathy, for offering their own cash towards this project. I genuinely can't express how shocked, awed and truly thankful I am that people want to contribute in this way. Secondly, I want to thank everyone in the community for making this such a wonderful place that people actually want to part with their money in order to keep the site growing and maintaining the interest and excitement in the place. I genuinely hope that we'll all be here for months and years to come writing out this world into a diversity and infinitely detailed one with life and vibrancy.
Many thanks to you all! Looking forward to the next few months!!! <3 <3 <3

Update!
Okay y'all I have an update with regards to the move to forums.net. I have some good news and I have some bad news. The good news is that I can 100%, without fail, guarantee the following -
✔ No Content Restrictions ✔ No Ads ✔ Able to Use Custom Domain ✔ All proboards coding and plugins will continue to work. Ergo, no site changes.
Here's the bad news: Forums.net no longer offers a database transfer service (they used to, but they've now stopped it for whatever reason). This means that the entirety of the site; the coding, the threads and posts, the profiles, the accounts, everything has to be transferred manually.
I'll just pause to let the horror of that sink in for a second.
However! You guys know that I love you, and that I'm frickin' awesome and that I will always do what I can to help everyone out and make sure that their roleplaying experiences are not interrupted. And while I know that some people on the site and server are very dedicated and would be super quick at copying stuff over, not everyone will be. And this means that there will be a disjointed joining of the site and all the threads will be a bit weird and people will be nagging each other to post their half of an rp thread etc etc. So, instead of all that and to stop any of that animosity building, this is what we're going to do...
As soon as I am financially able, I will create the new site. Our current Aeipathy will continue as normal - this site will be hidden away and will be viewable solely by the staff team. I will then create everyone's account, under the aeipathyrp@gmail.com email address. I'll transfer all of the profile information, I'll then flick between the accounts (because it's as simple as changing character use if they're all under one address) and I will repost every IC post on the site and recreate all of the threads. While this is will take a long time, it won't take anywhere near the amount of time needed for everyone to wait for each other to post back and forth.
What I will then do, is for about two days, I will ban posting on the old forum (allowing me the time to catch up) and I will then finish off the site. I will then, reset the password of every IC account to a randomised password and get everyone on the server to DM me their email. I will reset the email to the appropriate accounts and then DM you the randomised password. You can then reset the password at your leisure.
This way, all of our members (on "Moving Day") will log onto a site that has all of the content, all of the profiles and everything that the old one does. There will be no waiting, no hassle, no chasing and no animosity between members who just wanna get going. Yes, you'll be cut off from posting for a few days, but I think that's a small price to pay when the alternative is weeks (if not months and forever) of waiting for people to post to go back over the old content.
The old site won't be removed until we know 100% of the content has been moved across and when we are certain that it has been shifted, I'll simply put a hyperlink redirect into the page so that anyone finding us from an old advertisement will be directed to the appropriate place.
Now, in terms of timescales, I cannot and will not be doing any of this until March. I am moving house in seven days, after which I am at risk of not having internet until the 4th March. As such, this is not something I can do before then. On top of this, the payment for the self-hosted site is based on pageviews. Now, while I'm confident we're going to have enough views and it won't be an issue, I use up a lot of views when I'm editing code (all that refreshing and checking etc). So, rather than waste all your lovely moneys by doing tonnes of code editing, I'm going to set up a random test forum and transfer the code in bits, smoothing out the code, making sure none of it is wonky or in loops and making sure that, each individual bit works on its own and isn't going to suddenly freeze if I plonk it all into a new forum, blank slate style. So I'm going to be working on the test forum first (and doing tonnes of free pageviews) and will then transfer it to the new one, where I know it will work without having to refresh all the time and use up those views. So, after I move and get internet back, THAT is what I have to do first. As soon as that's done, I will then create the new forum (which starts off payment for it) and I will then be copying all the content across which will be long and arduous. I can't give you complete time-frames here and I don't want to give you promises that I can't keep. But, my estimation is that we're looking at beginning of April at the earliest for Moving Day. I will, obviously, try and make it happen as soon as I can. And as soon as I have the site's templates all finished on here, I'll be starting that test forum and getting to work. But I am going to have to ask that everyone be patient until then.
I'm sorry that this is longer than previously anticipated, the last time I checked all this info Proboards still offered a transfer system where it would just move everything on the site plus database ad verbatum to the new server. They don't do it anymore, so this is the only option we're left with. I know it means waiting a little longer for the new site but I genuinely think that waiting first and then being able to get everyone onto the site and ready to go straight away is better than having everyone move immediately and then flail and stress trying to set things to rights...
Hope you guys agree <3 <3 <3

Update!Coding copying and testing is proceeding as expected on the test forum - I'm about half way done. Which means, allowing time for my moving house, we're on schedule for me to make the new funded site at the start of March and be moving in and using it by the start of April. How You Can HelpNow, loads of people have DMed me offering help where they can but, unfortunately, there is little people can help me do during the actual move over - I'm just going to have to sit there and plug away at it myself. However, there are some things that people can help me with before the transfer, if they can. Basically, the tidier and clearer and sorted the site is before the move, the easier the move will be for me when I have to transfer everything across. There's no sense wasting time transferring mistakes or edits that I then have to go back in to fix later. As such, I seek the help of the Aeipathy community to get their thread trackers 100% up to date and to make sure that the site is showing everything appropriately. I.e. all the locked threads are locked as they should be etc. Below is a list of every thread currently open in Athenia and Colchis (with more to follow). Here's what the community can help me by doing... 1. If you have an Athenian or Colchian character and are looking for threads to join, remember we have an open thread policy. So, provided the thread is in a location your character has a right to be, you can jump in on anything. So - jump in. That's the first thing. We need to know who is actively participating in the below threads so that something isn't locked when it doesn't need to be and can be taken over or brought back to life by another member. So, if you have an Athenian or Colchian character and are looking for something to do with them, look down the below list and start exploring to see if there's something there you can be a part of. 2. If there is a thread in the below list that you are a part of and it is completely dead (for whatever reason - character has been dropped or member has left for example), please complete one of the following - --- shout out for someone to take it over in the #plot-discussion channel on Discord. --- request a member of staff to archive it. This removes it from canon and it never happened for your character. --- request a member of staff to lock it. This means that it has happened but the thread is finished. Please note that our staff ONLY lock threads that have been "finished off" so if the thread requires a quick/short post, or an additional paragraph at the end of the thread to round it out and finish it off, please complete this before you request it to be locked. 3. If there is a thread in the below list that is not completely dead but it is inactive. Ergo, all of the characters are still in play, there's no reason for the thread to be dead other than lack of posting (ergo, hasn't been posted in at all in say... 2 weeks?), please complete one of the following - --- if you're not the most recent poster, please post in the thread. Even if you feel like it might be better for someone else to go first, that other person might be struggling with muse or struggling with having enough to respond to. A shorter, reactionary post from your character can help get those creative juices flowing, so please post. --- if you are the most recent poster, please contact the other members in the thread and ask them what's going on and if they still want to continue the thread. If they do not, please then follow one of the steps under section 2. (what to do with a dead thread). 4. If there is a thread in the below list that you are a part of and it's currently going along nicely then don't worry about that one - move on to another That one is fine and dandy Here's your tidy up list to work through ladies and gents! Taengea will be here in the future, but let's focus our attentions one at a time, shall we? <3 Ergo, Athenia has been up for a while and Colchis has now joined it Taengea to follow... Update!Just so everyone knows - this is all still in the works and going strong! Here's where I'm at at the moment: -- All boards have been made. -- Webhooks and connections (such as the cbox and Discord widget) are in place. -- About a third of the aesthetic coding has been transferred (I'm transferring as it's needed to ensure the code is accurately displayed). -- And we are full blown into copy and pasting the IC content to the site. (I'm creating accounts as and when they're needed so, so far, I've copied about 1,000 posts to the new site and made about 20 of our active accounts). Just trying to balance keeping our old site looking good and running smooth and our new one getting sorted! <3 But I realised I hadn't posted here in a while and that you guys might be needing an update. Once again a huge thank you to those who fund us so that we can be moving to this wonderful paid service and get on with all the smut and violence wonderful ad-free roleplaying!! <3
