Mentoring System
Hey guys and gals! Right, now to help out with the inundation of new members I just know we're gonna get now that we have Africa... >.> <.< >.> *waits for inundation* - we have a wonderful Mentor Team in place to help out our Community Moderators! These lovely peeps are not staff members; they are wonderful members of our community volunteering their time to help out the newcomers who enter into our server, in the hopes that they will not be put off or intimidated by ourawesomeness size or exuberance.
Here's how the Mentoring System is going to work -
-- When a newcomer joins us they get that lovely little Welcome message we're all super familiar with by now.
-- Once with us, in amongst all you lovely people saying hello one of our staff team will say hello and make connection between Newcomer and Mentor - effectively assigning one to the other.
While we don't want anyone to stop with their lovely hellos, their greetings, their answers to questions or their support, it will then be down to the Mentors to be the first point of call for the newcomers if they want it. If our Newbies talk in the general then the community is welcome (and encouraged) to answer back. But sometimes our community is loud and boisterous and very busy so assigning a Newcomer one particular name and person helps them out in terms of almost, giving them permission to reach out and bother that person when they need a helping hand.
A Mentor's responsibility is to occasionally check in on their newbies, answer any queries they have and help get a roleplayer all the way through character creation and to a point where they have several threads already under their belt, before they take the armbands off.
Remember: This new feature should change nothing about how everyone wonderfully welcomes newcomers - we are not taking away the task of being friendly and welcoming. We just want to give newcomers that one point of call for when they need a helping hand <3
