I do hope that this missive and the accompanying package find you well. I hope that you did not worry much that I have not returned to Meganea promptly. Please be sure to tell the children not to worry, I am safe.
After selling the three stallions that I brought the long way to Vasiliadon to his royal highness, King Stephanos of Mikaelidas, there was another offer needing filling. Her royal highness is having difficulties with her pregnancy and had not yet secured enough ladies to tend to her growing needs. It will be a steady income and I promise to send what is needed for the children.
The drachmae included now is from the sale of the horses, minus some I spent on clothes deemed more appropriate for court. I pray that you will not be mad with me over this with this decision to make a good impression.
I also hope that this esteemed position will help find a proper husband. So that I will no longer be a burden to you. I do hope you will write back with the details of my children. I will miss them while I am away, yet am coming to terms with what must happen now that Lord Aktis is gone.
Sincerely,
Aikaterine
